The elk hunting industry in the region brings in over $500 million dollars a year, to Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, bison virtually nill as far as income for any of the states...which is a major reason, you don't see the outcry from the ranchers over elk, although, there should be, as elk have been doc-umented to transmit brucellosis to cattle
