I've gone to Yellowstone the past 7 years... all in mid-June. Every day we are in the backcountry and so I'd say I can comment on this question.
Some years, the mosquitoes were dense in certain areas. On very rare occasions, I've had hundreds of mosquitoes swarm me. On those rare occasions it was a matter of DEET and walking out of the area that solved the problem. More typically, you will run into a mosquito here or there. Even in wet environments, the mosquitoes aren't everywhere.
In all our years, with lots and lots of bushwacking, we've have only seen 1 possible tick (reported by one of our party and it might have been a small spider). It's said that ticks are in the sage and we emerge at the end of our annual stay with all the battle scars on our legs from the sage... but with no tick bites.
I should note that the last 7 years have been pretty dry in mud-june, so this year might be a little more challenging.
Lastly, if you stay into late June, the biting flies might arrive. Now these guys can be a real nuisance... happened to us one year on our last day.
Overall... do not worry about the bugs, we don't.
