Most of the apparent reasons have been touched here: Longer seasons' poor pay' poor employee relations and poor quarters (yes some of the senior emplyee dorms are nicer but most are OLD). Some people still enjoy working for the companies and I know several. Many are outdoor enthusiasts who hike, geyser gaze. and fish in the park. I believe Xanterra also reqires a certain amount of time to get benefits(recently reset just a little longer than the average working season?). For a back ground comparison I looked into working in the park in the early 60's when the Yellowstone Park Company had many of the concessions: 6 day weeks, minimum wages, no benefits. DG
