I've been camped outside West for 3 days now and have yet to see signs of the hazing. There are those cruising and appear to be looking for the animals.
I went into the interior of the park (and through) Hayden to Fishing Bridge and past Mary Bay. The outlook is bleak at best. A few Bulls in Hayden wandering looking for feed but honestly I have only seen (from the road) maybe 10 acres of clear ground and only marginal feed for the Bison. Along the River west from Madison CG calves are dropping all over the place. The herds are in poor condition and the food source is minimal. Warm temps will green the place up soon but some of these animals do not look healthy enough to make it. 2 day old calf orphaned this morning. The outlook appears bleak but I and others are hoping for the best.
I can tell you one thing; I will never look at another Bison in the same light ever again. Natures way? Perhaps, but in this case aided by the Cattle Monster in Montana.......
