No expert, but we did our first family trip last June. We drove cross country from Upstate NY it was so entirely worth it!!!!An awesome experience that we will be repeating again (not soon enough). We stayed in Cooke City (love the folks at Antlers Lodge and MUST stop at Buns N Beds a deli on Main St. awesome folks, excellent food, try the cheddar bomb burger)the quick access to Cthe Park from Cooke City was perfect for us.
Cant give you much advice on the wildlife tours. We did our own driving we saw grizzlies, moose, wolves, coyotes, elk, obviously bison...we saw all the major animals. I highly recommend a spotting scope....it proved invaluable to us!!!We took our time spending every day driving through different areas of the park. Stopping at picnic areas, having a snack, doing some hiking, just taking in the magic that is Yellowstone!!!! I have no doubt you will fall in love with Yellowstone as we did and will return just as we plan to. Our kiddos were 1 1/2, 3 and 10 at the time of the trip and ever, single one of them had a great time!!!
Enjoy your trip!Travel safely!
